FIRE HEALTH & SAFETY

15. Boiler Failure

Boiler Failure

You should place a P1 reactive maintenance call to get the boiler repaired.

Any temporary room heaters provided must meet the Company Policy requirements:

• No LPG portable heaters • No Open element electric or fan heaters. • Only oil filled electric radiators are permitted

Where this requirement cannot be met then guests need to be Out Booked, you must inform your RBM and Central Reservations to facilitate this.

(See section 1 – accidents) • Advice guests not to use water in drinks or for other personal use e.g. brushing teeth, washing • Provide pure bottled water • If water is required, ensure it is boiled and decontamination tablets are used • If the problem continues try to secure water from another source • If contamination is confined to the hotel, consider the possibility of guest transfer to another IKL business • If required, put the room out of order on Opera (including the reason why) and notify Central Reservations • Take advise via your RBM if he/she is not available, your RD and inform him/her of the details • Provide situation updates to other guest when required • Do not carry out laundry of shower curtains, valances or cot bedding until you have been advised the water supply is safe again

Guest safety and comfort cannot be maintained. Once the water supply fails you will only have the water left in the storage tank, usually 2 -400 litres. You may be able to maintain guest services until existing guests check out but you must not check anyone in.

Are other local businesses affected or is it just your Business. If it is just the local business then you should place a P1 reactive maintenance call to get the water system repaired.
